Is a Stun Gun the Same as a Taser?

A stun gun and a taser are both non-lethal self-defense weapons that use electricity to incapacitate an attacker. However, they work in slightly different ways. Below we explain the difference between a stun gun and taser.
A stun gun is a handheld device that delivers a high-voltage electric shock when applied to an attacker. It works by causing the attacker’s muscles to contract, disrupting their nervous system and making it difficult for them to move or function. Stun guns typically require direct contact with the attacker and have a limited range of a few feet.
A taser, on the other hand, uses two small probes that can be fired from a distance of up to 15 feet. The probes are connected to the taser by thin wires, and when they make contact with the attacker’s skin, they deliver an electric shock that incapacitates them. Tasers are often preferred by law enforcement and military personnel because of their longer range and ability to incapacitate an attacker from a distance.
Both stun guns and tasers can be effective in deterring or stopping an attack, but they should only be used as a last resort in situations where your safety is at risk. It is important to note that stun guns and tasers may be restricted or illegal in some areas, and it is always best to familiarize yourself with the laws and regulations regarding their use.
